For instance, itβs not wise to buy plants just because they were really beautiful to look at. Later on, you might end up being sick of it or it may pose a problem. Why? It could be because it doesnβt match the aesthetic style of the room, or the area isnβt suited for its living. Thereβs plenty of reasons. So here are some tips to consider so you can choose the right plant for your living room.
- Consider Lighting Exposure
Buying a plant also means taking care of it. So before you choose plants for your living room, check how much sun exposure it gets or the lighting it has. Here are four kinds of exposure: bright, direct light (full sun); bright, indirect light (partial shade); medium, indirect light; and low, indirect light. Then do your research on the plants you have in mind for putting. Check their sun or light exposure needs. That way youβll know what to choose, where to place them, and if they will be healthy.
- Consider Room Temperature
Most plants donβt have any problem living within the home during the spring and summer room temperature. However, during colder months, when the room temperature fluctuates, most plant species die. Doing your research about the plantβs favored temperature will help you keep them alive. As well as, checking the room temperature often to ensure you can control it with devices or appliances.
- Consider the Designs
As the name implies, the living room is where you do most of your living time. This is also where your guest spends most of their time. This means– you want everything to be pleasing in the eye. If the plant you choose doesnβt match or work with your interior design– you might end up being sick of it and replace it right away. It is also wise to consider not just the plantβs appearance but also its vase or containerβs design.
- Consider the Plantβs Maintenance
Most indoor plants donβt need much maintenance. But if youβre a busy person or you usually tend to forget about small things– itβs best to choose the plant that is low on maintenance. Or hire someone to take care of them. Otherwise, if you love the feeling of taking care of them whatever the cost– then by all means skip this tip.
- Consider Risks with Pets
Some pets just love to mess with plants, some even love to chew its leaves–especially cats. Also, while some plants are also mildly toxic, others can make your pets seriously sick. If you have pets at home and thinking of buying plants– do your research on the toxicity and think carefully about where you should put it to avoid accidents.
